Donald Terhune Massey

FREEPORT – Donald Terhune Massey, 71, of Freeport, passed away on March 15, 2023.

Don was born Dec. 15, 1951 to Harold and Ann Massey of Ridgewood, N.J. Don graduated from The Loomis Institute in 1970, Yale in 1974, and UConn Law School in 1977. For 35 years, Don was a respected attorney practicing in southern Maine.

A dedicated member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Yarmouth, Don volunteered in many areas of service and sang in the choir for decades. Whip smart and quick-witted, Don loved reading non-fiction and reciting Shakespeare. Additionally, Don loved sports and was a beloved player in the Maine Woods Baseball league. His loved ones will remember Don as a loyal father and friend.

Don is survived by his son, Andrew Massey, his daughter, Bailey Magrann-Wells; his granddaughter, Margaret Magrann; his partner, Barbara Ann McHugh; and his sisters, Susan Herndon and L.J. Massey.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Yarmouth on Saturday, March 25 at 1 p.m.
