Harpswell voters will convene at Harpswell Community School Saturday, March 11, for the annual Town Meeting and a school board election.
Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to cast ballots for two seats on the SAD 75 Board of Directors. Voters will choose among incumbent Eric Lusk and challengers William “Bart” Beattie and Gregory Greenleaf. Margaret “Greta” Warren will still appear on the ballot despite having withdrawn from the race, and Beattie is running as a write-in candidate.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Among numerous warrant items up for approval is the $7.1 million proposed town budget, which is up 12.3% over this year’s budget. Among the drivers of the budget increase is a $150,000 plan to upgrade the town’s recycling center building and a $135,000 boat launch project at Mitchell Field.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
