Dolores M. Davio
SCARBOROUGH – Dolores M. Davio, 78, of Sophia Avenue. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dolores Marie Davio, who left us on Feb. 13, 2023. She was a loving mother and cherished spending time with her family.
Dolores was born on Aug. 23, 1944, in Portland, the sixth of eight children born to Victor J. and Anne C. (Storey) Mannette. She grew up in Maine and attended Deering High School. She spent some time on the pageant circuit, winning the title of Ski Queen in 1963, before beginning her career in nursing, working with the elderly and those with physical and intellectual challenges.
Later on, she was a community case worker for the City of Portland. She was compassionate and had a strong work ethic and was always dedicated to providing for her loved ones.
Dolores was a devoted wife to her late husband Joseph Davio, Sr., who she married in 1994. They were inseparable and cherished each other dearly. In each other they found a deep love, built on kindness, trust, and a sense of humor, and together they created a loving home.
After retiring, they travelled and made the most of their time together. They enjoyed cooking, with Joe having a slight edge over mom on the Italian dishes. In her free time, she loved reading the news and spending time with friends and neighbors. As a member of the community, Dolores was well-known for her quick smile and kindness. She was loved by all who knew her.
Dolores will be greatly missed by her brother, Joseph; and her daughter, Audrey, and son-in-law, Cihan; as well as her extended family, friends, and neighbors.
Her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all those whose lives she touched. Rest in peace, Mom. You will always be remembered and loved.
A private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. To sign Dolores’ online guest book and share fond memories and expressions of sympathy, please visit http://www.jonesrichandbarnes.com
