Joseph C. Pizzo Jr.

FALMOUTH – On Feb. 14, 2023, Joseph C. Pizzo Jr. of Falmouth passed away at the age of 79 with his family by his side.

Joe was born in Portland on Jan. 14, 1944 to Joseph Pizzo Sr. and Annie Pizzo (Addario). One of 13 children, he attended Portland schools before meeting the love of his life, Sharon. He and Sharon built a life of love and family raising nine children all the while running their business, Portland Produce, that spanned generations. The pair never stopped working for their family and loved ones emulating the true meaning of hard work, love, and commitment.

An avid lover of baseball, Joe cherished his role as Grampi, spending countless hours on the field with his children and grandchildren. It is hard not to think of him without seeing his infectious smile and boundless energy. We will all remember him running around the yard with the grandkids and the pure joy he brought to all our lives.

Left with decades of fond memories, Joe is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 59 years; his nine children, Jody Connolly and her husband Joe of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Joseph Pizzo III and his wife Terri of Portland, Anna Abate and her husband Tony of Boston, Mass., Sherry Pizzo-Derrig of Portland, Kathy Pizzo and her husband Terrence Naylon of Portland, Gina Pizzo and her longtime partner Michael Travers of Falmouth, Angela Duffy and her husband Sean of Cumberland, and Anthony Pizzo of Falmouth; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and siblings Rose Favreau and husband Paul of Westbrook, Francesca Pizzo of Portland, Diane Harriman and husband Larry of Windham, Nancy Boucher and husband Richard of Westbrook, Antoinette Maynard and husband Steve of Westbrook, Patricia Everett and husband Gary of South Portland, and Anthony Pizzo of Portland.

Joe was predeceased by his father, Joseph and mother, Annie; his brothers Eddie, John, Marty and sisters Josephine and Theresa; his beloved son, Dominic; and granddaughters Ashiley Meghan Connolly and Mackenzie Glo Pizzo.

Visiting hours Friday, Feb. 17 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee Funeral Chapels. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave, Portland. A private interment will be held at New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
