Maine author to discuss novel at library
Author Dave Patterson’s “Soon the Light Will be Perfect” is the story of two adolescent brothers living in a small New England town navigating difficult circumstances – their mother has just been diagnosed with cancer and their father recently lost his job. Patterson will discuss the process of turning his heavily autobiographical story into a work of fiction at the Windham Public Library on March 1 from 6-7 p.m. Attend the session either in person or virtually via Zoom. Contact Ray Marcotte at the library at 892-1908, ext. 5 for more details or email rmarcotte@windhammaine.us.
Meet the ‘Families of Gambo’
Patrick Bonsant will present his film, “The Families of Gambo Mills,” at 1 p.m. March 11 at the Little Meetinghouse on Route 302 in North Windham. Bonsant has done extensive research on the Gambo Mills area and will give his audience a glimpse of what it was like for workers in the famous gunpowder mills and their families. It was a dangerous job, though it paid well, and accidents were an inevitability. Organized by the Windham Historical Society, the presentation is offered free of charge. Refreshments will be served and donations are always welcome.
