Chester Choquet

PORTLAND – Chester passed away Feb. 13, 2023, looking into his Mom’s eyes and holding her hand. Chester held a deep faith in God and understood the most important things in life were from the heart.

He loved nature, learned a new word daily and read the Bible in completion each year. Chester was known to randomly burst with song. The generosity in his heart to those in need amazed all of us. He often said “if you want to make a friend, one has to be a friend”. He called his Mom daily to chat and inquire about ‘what was for dinner’?

He was employed by Maine Medical Center for years and most recently by Marshalls in South Portland. He was grateful for the friendship of his colleagues.

He lost use of his legs in recent years due to Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. Chester wanted to ‘run like the deer’ and he knew that he was going to do so in Heaven.

Chester is survived by his mother, Herta Choquet; and six siblings, Andrea Choquet and family, Roland Choquet and spouse Isolde and family, Loretta Choquet and Spouse Diane Sorowitz, Marc Choquet, Heidi Brooks and Spouse Jerry and family, Karen Choquet and Partner Mark Geren. Extended family includes Pastor David Perkins and wife Janet, Steve and Louise Martin, Ruthie, Maggie; and many neighbors on Danforth Street.
