Iris Patricia “Tam” Denham

WESTBROOK – Iris Patricia “Tam” Denham, 91, of Westbrook, passed away on Jan. 28, 2023. Born August 22, 1931 in “the smoke” of cockey London, Iris Patricia (Tam) Denham lived a life that touched on and was affected by many people and events. From a notable lineage she knew complicated parents, Nazi bombings, Paris Beatniks, Lucky Luciano, and L. Ron Hubbard.

She was an artist’s model, thespian, poet and novelist. She shared her challenges with unaddressed mental illness and eventual recovery. She loved reading, Scottish tea, English muffins and unfiltered cigarettes. She was a philosopher and therapist, and a genius that could not use a cell phone or the TV remote. She was a mother that did the best she could with what she had been given. Tam died in great peace with her family at her side.

She is survived by her beloved children, Clovis Otteson, Morgyn Dana, and Malory Shaughnessy and her husband Michael.

She is survived by four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Theo Shaughnessy, Avery Shaughnessy with wife Ellie and child Aria Rose, Ciaran Shaughnessy with wife Katie Eastman and child Thomas Rose, and Tulleigh Shaughnessy with partner Sarah McLaughlin and children Aebel, Ferne and Elwell.

She is also survived by her greatly loved younger brother Richard Brooker and his wife Taree Bunnag-Brooker; six great nieces and nephews; and five great great nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held on June 4.
