ANDOVER — A Mexico woman died Saturday evening from injuries suffered in a snowmobile crash that occurred just past noon in Andover, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife.
Dorothy McPherson, 46, was riding alone on her Polaris 850 snowmobile on a snowmobile trail when she appeared to miss a ramp onto the Ellis River Bridge and crashed into a tree, according to a statement released by Mark Latti, spokesman for IF&W.
There were no witnesses to the crash, and McPherson was found at about 12:20 p.m. by another snowmobiler, who immediately called 911, according to Latti. McPherson was wearing a helmet.
Emergency workers performed CPR on McPherson and she was taken by a LifeFlight of Maine helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she died from internal injuries sustained in the crash, according to Latti.
The Maine Warden Service continued to investigate the crash over the weekend.
The Maine State Police and Andover Fire and Rescue assisted at the crash scene.
