Sharon Elaine Binette
HOLLIS – Sharon Elaine Binette passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family in Hollis, early Saturday morning, Dec. 3, 2022 after a two-and-a-half year battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Sharon was born on June 23, 1944 in New Britain, Conn., the daughter of Sidney and Grace Coy. Shortly thereafter, the family moved and settled in Portland, her home, where she grew up with many friends and graduated from Deering High School in 1962. Sharon had kept in close touch with her Deering alumni her entire life. Sharon married Richard Binette Dec. 22, 1978.
Sharon worked full time as an administrative assistant for two different insurance companies for 30-plus years. She semi-retired and became a snowbird in 2012. Her other home was in Boca Raton, Fla. where she made a whole new set of beautiful friends.
Sharon had an extremely adventurous spirit. She lived a very full life, mostly centered around what she loved most, her beloved family. Her hobbies include gardening, golfing, skiing, camping, cooking, reading, sewing, dining, shopping and we can’t forget her favorite… traveling.
Sharon traveled the whole world checking off her bucket list these past two and-a-half years. Greece and Alaska were her favorites.
Her adventures were too many to put on paper but we call her the miraculous G-GOAT! (Greatest Grandmother Of All Time). She was an extremely remarkable inspiration to all… to say the least.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Bonnie Dee Hayes; and niece, Patricia Golden.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Richard Binette; and two stepdaughters, Lorri and Carri. Sharon is also survived by her son, Scott Hayes and daughter-in-law, Michelle Hayes of Hollis; grandson, Zackery Hayes, Zack’s wife, Aleesha and great-granddaughters Skye and Octavia Hayes, of Limington; grandson, Daniel Hayes and his fiancé Kyaunna Libby of Limington, granddaughter, Dianne Hayes of Standish; daughter, Kristen Harrington, Patrick Harrington and grandsons Gabriel and Nicholas Harrington of Gorham; cousins Suzanne and Shirley; sister, Bonnie Sue Kilmartin; nephews Jim and Syd Kilmartin and niece, Pamela Kilmartin.
Everyone is truly blessed to have had Sharon in their lives. She will be sadly missed and forever cherished.
Visiting hours will be at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Rd., Buxton, on Friday Dec. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be a celebration of life at a nearby venue very soon, details are still being determined.
