Roger J. Gouin

BIDDEFORD – Roger J. Gouin, 85 of Biddeford, Maine, passed away peacefully at Southern Maine Medical Center on Monday Nov. 28, 2022. Roger was born on Aug. 6, 1937, in Sanford, Maine, to the late Lucien and Laurette Gouin. He attended Holy Family School and proudly earned his GED in his mid-50s.

Roger meet Barbara and they were married on Aug. 30, 1958. They spend 63 loving years together. Roger worked many years at General Electric and Portsmouth Navy Yard.

Roger was a soft spoken, quiet man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, taking bus trips, and spending summers camping at lakeside pines. Roger’s favorite time of year was Christmas. He looked forward to the entire family being together eating, laughing, exchanging presents and playing his Christmas games. Geronimo!

Roger was predeceased by his wife Barbara, daughter Denise, son-in-law Robert Leighton, grandson Jameson Leighton, sister Doris and brother Paul.

He is survived by his loving children, Michael (Jeanne) Gouin, Diane (Sam) Ellis and Charlene Leighton. His grandchildren Melissa (Chris) Baez, Tracy (Tom) Gouin, Cassandra (Jordan) and Bradley Ellis and Meliah (Liz) Leighton. Roger also leaves behind the apples of his eye great-grandchildren Lucas, Brady, Walker and Skylar.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Claudette, Jessica and Ciera for taking loving care of their dad.

Services will be held at Hope Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 2 from 11 a.m. -1 p.m., followed by internment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
