The Maine Department of Transportation announced the weight restriction on Monday, a limit that will prevent vehicles weighing more than 25 tons from traveling across the bridge between Monday, Dec. 5 and Friday, Dec. 9.

The restriction will remain in effect around the clock. MDOT says it plans to use message boards to alert drivers of heavy vehicles about the restriction. Charter buses, snow plows and fire trucks are just a few of the vehicles that weigh around 25 tons.
