Cynthia Lee (Blake) Poland

HOLLIS CENTER – Cynthia Lee (Blake) Poland, 63, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Hollis Center on Nov. 21, 2022, with her beloved dog, Jeter, at her side and her friend, Tina McDonald, holding her hand.

Cindy grew up in Portland and graduated Deering High School. She was the beloved daughter of Wilbur Blake and Elizabeth (Mancell) Blake. After high school, Cynthia moved to her first home in Cumberland with her ex-husband, Ron Budd, and had their daughter, Heather. Cindy was the most loving and caring mother and only wanted the best for her daughter.

Later on in life Cynthia remarried her true love, Richard Poland, at their home in Hollis Center. Cindy became the loving stepmother of Jennifer Dyer, Eric Poland and Amy Ryan.

Over the years Cynthia worked for the Blake Company, CCB, and ES Boulos company making life-long friendships with fellow coworkers. She was a determined and committed employee until she became ill with cancer and had to retire.

Cindy will always be remembered for her strong will, determination to fight and her love of yard sales, antiques, crafting, generosity and kind heart and love for her dogs.

She was the proudest grandmother to Cory Jr. Freeman, Elliot Dyer, and Pearl Dyer. Cindy loved nothing more than spoiling her grandbabies and spending time with family, hosting and attending family gatherings.

Cynthia was predeceased by her parents Wilbur and Elizabeth Blake; her loving husband, Richard Poland; her sister, Betty Morgan; and ex-husband, Ronald Budd.

She will be sadly missed and always remembered by her daughter, Heather (Budd) Freeman and husband, Cory Freeman of Old Orchard Beach, her stepchildren Jennifer (Poland) Dyer and husband Travis Dyer of Buxton, Eric Poland of Gray and Amy Ryan and husband Bill Ryan of Texas; her brother, Thomas Blake his partner Vicki Mercier of Westbrook and niece Erica Blake of North Carolina; her sister-in-law, Cathy Blake of New York City, N.Y.; her grandchildren Cory Jr. Freeman of Old Orchard Beach, Elliot and Pearl Dyer of Buxton; her absolute best friends Patricia DiGeorge of Old Orchard Beach and Tina McDonald of Hollis.

A graveside service will be held on Friday Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St., Portland. A reception will follow at her brother Tom’s home, 23 Woods Rd., Westbrook.
