In “MAGA,” when exactly does the “again” refer to? Before the revolution, kings were above the law, not balanced by other powers and could freely benefit family and loyalists. People were taxed without representation or voting rights. Indigenous people and lands were exploited. Colonies were divided, not united.
Before “Making America Great (Britain) Again,” remember why we declared independence and united under a Constitution’s Bill of Rights and Amendments. Patriots to emerging democracy triumphed over loyalists to King George, yet we are now challenged by loyalty to ex-President Donald Trump and return to the distant past.
Instead of driving with only a rearview mirror, we should strive for America’s great future, sustaining its climate, economy, freedoms, democracy, etc.
