Rebecca Paulhus, of Arundel, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 30, 2022.
On Aug. 8, 1972, Rebecca was born in Biddeford. She grew up in Wells and graduated from Wells High School. Rebecca earned her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Southern Maine, majoring in French and literature. She spoke French fluently and attended a special three-month program at Sorbonne in Paris, France.
Rebecca loved traveling the world! She visited many places including Japan, Ukraine, Russia, England, and Iceland. She lived in New York and Washington, D.C., working as a representative for various businesses.
In 2003, Rebecca moved back to Maine to be with her family and friends. She worked in the hospitality business at the Neptune Inn located in Ogunquit. Also, she taught French for several years at schools in southern Maine where she was loved by her students. Rebecca also tutored French students privately, which she enjoyed greatly.
In recent years, Rebecca was a book and antique dealer, selling online and at flea markets … something she learned from her father. She enjoyed the thrill of hunting for collectibles at local antique shops, where she loved to bargain with other dealers. Over the years, Rebecca made many friends in the local antique community. She owned and operated an eBay store, spending her time listing and selling items.
One of the highlights of her life was when she had a personal meeting with President Trump in 2018.
Over the years, Rebecca struggled with addiction. In the last few years of her life, she was trying to work on her recovery program and live a normal life, but her addiction got the best of her.
Rebecca had so many wonderful qualities. She was kindhearted, loving, and generous. She was a person who loved her family and just wanted a happy life.
Rebecca was an animal lover, who had a very special relationship with her cat, Schooner … a Persian Munchkin. She adored Schooner and had a special seat in her car so they could travel together.
She is predeceased by her dear father, David. She is survived by her mother, Shirley; her brothers, Michael and Robert; her special Auntie Patsy; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
