Recently, I have been bombarded by Enough is Enough’s messages to “vote ‘no’ on all (Portland) ballot questions.”

While my sympathies are with the proposals’ backers, I am open to arguments for and against them all. However, I can tell everything I need to know about Enough is Enough by how their effort rejects even reforms benefiting their backers.

Question 4 solves the problem that cost Steven DiMillo a seat on the Charter Commission. Yet DiMillo donated $15,000 to Enough is Enough – apparently, actual solutions are not of interest to him or the group. Meanwhile, the commissioners proposed a revision that would have cost some of them their own seats – a noble feat, and one that deserves the respect of DiMillo and Enough is Enough.

If I were to share Enough is Enough’s knee-jerk politics, I could only surmise that I should vote “yes” straight down the ballot.
