50 years ago
The American Journal reported on Nov. 1, 1972, that the choir at the First Parish Church honored its director, Nina Bailey, on Oct. 25 with cake and ice cream on her birthday. She was also honored by Village School Campfire Girls. Her age was not reported.
U.S. taxpayer debt
The Treasury Department reported on Oct. 27 that the U.S. public debt was $31,257,754,739,246.94.
