Mary Ann (Plummer) Douglas

TOPSHAM – Mary Ann (Plummer) Douglas, 74 of Topsham, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022 at her summer home on Orrs Island. From complications of Alzheimer’s disease, with her husband of 52 years and sister-in-law by her side.

She was born in Lewiston the daughter of Lester and Effie Plummer. She was schooled in Topsham and Brunswick before going to Geneco College in New York, graduating with a B.A. in Library Science. She was in 4-H, Girl Scouts and horseback riding.

She was a librarian at Montello School in Lewiston, then the Topsham Public Library. On Jan. 1, 1982 she gave birth to a son Kenneth L. “Kenny”, Jr. She was a member of T.O.P.S., Topsham Garden Club, Ocean Waves Quilter Guild, Block Beauty Quilter and member of Willing Helpers. She was a life-long member of the United Baptist Church in Topsham. She enjoyed camping, sewing, knitting, birding, and summers at Mere Point and Orrs Island.

She is survived by her husband, Ken; and son, Kenny of Topsham; brother-in-law, Rick Douglas and his wife Eleanor of Lisbon Falls, sister-in-law, Sandie Caron and her husband Emile of Brunswick, sister, Hannah Holford of Providence, R.I.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visiting hour will be held Friday, Nov. 4 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick where a service will follow at 5 p.m. A private burial will be held in Riverview Cemetery, Topsham at a later date.
