Gilbert G. Fecteau
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Gilbert G. Fecteau, 71, of Terre Haute, Ind., formerly of Westbrook, passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022 after a short illness.
He was born in Westbrook on Dec. 31, 1950, the son of the late Gaston and Mary Fecteau. Gil attended St. Hyacinth’s Parochial and Westbrook High Schools. Upon his high school graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy serving from 1970-1972 receiving the National Defense Service Medal. Gil graduated from Andover College in Portland with an associate’s degree in Business Administration and was employed by Saint Joseph’s Manor in Portland for many years.
Gil had a lifelong presence with his church communities in Maine at St. Hyacinth Church and in Indiana at St. Patrick and St. Margaret Mary Catholic Churches. In both states Gil served as a Eucharist Minister for his local hospitals, volunteered at the soup kitchens, was a member of the St. Patrick Altar Society and actively contributed in many other church events and ministries.
Gil was a lifelong Member of the Knights of Columbus, participated in annual Veteran’s events, loved cats, had a passion for trains, and most importantly was a beloved family member and dear friend to many.
He was predeceased by his sister, Theresa Guevin; and niece, Karen Guevin Daigel.
Gil is survived by his niece, Michelle Fuller; many grandnieces and nephews; several cousins; the Michaud family; and countless friends in Maine and Indiana.
A Committal Service will be held at St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery in Westbrook on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.
