Historians to hear Ledoux
Arty Ledoux will speak when the Westbrook Historical Society meets at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at its headquarters in Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St.
Ledoux, a Marine Corps veteran, is director of the Westbrook Veteran Services Office.
As always, historical society programs are free, open to the public and refreshments will be served.
Friday’s food truck
The Empanada Club will open at 11 a.m. on Oct. 28 at Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St.
Halloween reminder
Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St., is hosting a city Halloween event at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. The event replaces the annual one in the downtown. Features will include candy, a costume contest, a haunted hallway, games and a food truck.
Also, raffles, refreshments and a special appearance by Batman will be part of Trick or Trunk from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at American Legion Post 197, 300 Conant St.
Triad to meet
The Gorham/Windham/Westbrook Triad group will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Gorham Police Department, 270 Main St.
50 years ago
The American Journal reported on Oct. 25, 1972, that Elsie Spiller and Isabelle Gowen were to serve coffee and doughnuts following the Sunday service at Highland Lake Congregational Church.
