Michael H. Cornish 1959 – 2022 TOPSHAM – Michael H. Cornish died at his home in Topsham on Oct. 13, 2022, after a courageous battle with AML. “Some rise, some fall, some climb to get to Terapin” He was born in Bath and attended Bath schools, graduating from Morse High School. He served in the Coast Guard and Coast Guard Reserves. He worked at Bath Iron Works and was recognized as a Master Shipbuilder, taking exceptional pride in his work and ability to mentor others. He coached little league and middle school football in Bath and Topsham for over 25 years, and was especially proud of teaching football fundamentals to young kids and winning the MidCoast Fall Classic Championship in 2002. He will be remembered by many for his generosity, kindness, love of music and its trivia, sense of humor, master story telling, wise counsel, strong convictions, love of nature and the outdoors, and most of all for the love of his family, and family traditions. Survived by his wife, Christiane; his three children, Cassidy, Jake and Sara and their families; brother, Kevin Cornish, brother-in-law, Michael Field and his family, sister-in-law, Doris Miles and her family. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Gibson Oncology at Maine Medical Center, MaineHealth Cancer Care in Brunswick and Chans Hospice Care. A “Fare Thee Well” celebration of a life well lived will be held at a later date. “Fare you well, fare you well, I love you more than words can tell. Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul.” Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, your area animal rescue league or favorite charity.
