OCEAN PARK — Steven Lewis Belanger, 58, of Ocean Park, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at The Lodges Care Center in Springvale.
Steven was born on October 28, 1963, a son of Roland and Marjorie (Blackadar) Belanger. He grew up and was educated in the Wethersfield, Connecticut school system, and graduated from Wethersfield High School, class of 1982. It was during his time in High School that he met the love of his life, Joyce Fox. She forever held a special place in his heart and their bond was truly one of unconditional love.
Steven went on to study culinary arts in Simsbury, Conn., at the Connecticut Culinary Institute, quickly securing a position at The Chart House in New Haven, Connecticut. In the year 2000, Steven moved to Ocean Park, Maine to be near his mother, brother and sister. He developed an extensive resume in the restaurant and services industry in southern Maine.
Some of Steven’s favorite pastimes were attending live concerts, plays, and scary movies. Steve had a calm approach to all things in life and animals could just sense that. He cared for and interacted with many pets and animals throughout his life. He always looked forward to his annual summer trip to Sebago Lake with the entire Fox family and their friends, where they enjoyed a week of sun & fun together at the same. From a young age Steve knew how to eat a lobster, and he enjoyed teaching friends around his Moms’ “Lobster Table” how to eat it correctly. But if anyone discarded the main carcass, he would be the first to grab it and dissect it for the “best parts” including tamale but not the roe.
Later in life he discovered a special love of dragon flies. As Steven passed he was surrounded by dozens of dragon flies. A son, brother, husband, companion and friend, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Steven is predeceased by his father, Roland “Pete” Belanger.
Steven is survived by his mother Marjorie Belanger, his sister Susan Giarolo and husband John, his brother Scott Belanger and wife Ellie DeFreitas, his nephew Anthony Giarolo and Erin Corkery with son Aiden; his niece Megan Giarolo and Brian Sandefur with daughter Amelia “Millie”Giarolo Sandefur, his nieces Gabrielle and Charlotte Belanger, and his best friend who provided him many laughs and incredible support, John Williams.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 24th at 1 p.m. at the First Parish Congregational United Church located at 12 Beach Street, Saco, with Pastor Scott Cousineau officiating.
