Theodore James “Jim” Hallee

CAPE ELIZABETH – Theodore James “Jim” Hallee, 85, died peacefully at Maine Medical Center in Portland on Oct. 5, 2022 from a head injury. He was surrounded by his wife of 62 years, Linda, and his sister-in-law, Sharon, his son, Mark, his daughter, Lynne and his son-in-law, Jim.

Jim began his post high school education studying chemical engineering at Bowdoin College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. However, he decided to become a doctor and moved to the University of Vermont, where he also began his career in the Army. Jim completed his internship and residency at Fort Lewis, Wash. before moving to West Point and becoming the Chief of Medicine. After a time, Jim moved back to Maine where he worked at Maine Medical Center and was a founding member of an internal medicine practice. Jim completed another year of residency while at Maine Medical Center and became a nephrologist. Jim’s career in medicine spanned multiple decades. His career in the army lasted over 20 years where he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Jim was a lover of family, dogs, gardening, travel, Boston’s sports and reading.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; their daughter, Lynne Purcell of Atlanta, Ga., their son, Mark Hallee of Providence R.I.; and three grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sharon, several siblings; nieces, nephews; cousins; and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all!

Funeral services will take place at Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland on Saturday, Nov. 12. Visiting begins at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. and reception. Flowers can be sent to Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland by Nov. 11.
