Richard Eugene Caldwell

SACO – Richard Eugene Caldwell, of Gorham, died at The Landing in Saco on Oct. 15, 2022. He was 79.

Born in Lewiston on Dec. 2, 1942, Richard grew up in Canton before moving to Portland in 1955 with his parents, Richard and Cora Caldwell. He attended King Middle School and graduated from Deering High School in 1961. He married the former Paula Ann Craigie in 1965, and they made a home in the Riverton neighborhood of Portland.

After training in the National Guard and employment at Portland Transmission, Richard worked for over 25 years at S.D. Warren in Westbrook, retiring in 1996.

He was especially happy when traveling with his wife Paula, spending time with his grandsons, and watching the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.

Richard is survived by his wife, Paula Caldwell of Gorham; his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Neal Rush of Standish, and his daughter, Christine Caldwell of Columbia, S.C. He is also survived by his grandchildren, who will lovingly remember “Papa”, Justin Rush of Portland, Jacob Rush of Standish, Daniel and Jessica Rush; and great-grandson, Logan Rush, of Buxton; and Becket Ames and Jude Ames of Columbia, S.C.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Ave. in Portland on Friday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m.
