BANGOR and Cape Elizabeth – Joanne A. (McDonough) Leete passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, in Portland, Maine, after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Bangor to Frank P. and Catherine A. (Sullivan) McDonough.
Joanne was a member of the John Bapst High School, class of 1947. She was a proud telephone pioneer after working over 37 years as an operations assistant. In 1972, she married Lawrence (Larry) Leete and relocated to Cape Elizabeth.
She was a faithful communicant of St. Bartholomew’s Church and participated in their Catholic Women’s Club.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Winifred J. Kelsey, Mary C. Fernald and one brother Francis P. McDonough. She is survived by Larry’s family, Lawrence Leete Jr, Paul Leete, and Mary Ryan. Joanne is also remembered by nieces and nephews Laurence D. Fernald of Ellsworth, David A. Fernald of Farmington, Conn., Mary Carol Rumsey of Bangor, Eileen K. Fowler of Athens, Ga., Richard E. Fernald of Hampden and Jo-Ann F. Wicks of Bangor.
Services and burial were held in Bangor.
