Stephen Philip Cantara

SACO – Stephen Philip Cantara was born on Dec. 25, 1950 in Biddeford. Steve was a kind man, very hard working and had a way about him that everyone loved. Steve was an avid fan of golf whether playing or watching it. He was a beloved member at Deep Brook Golf Course in Saco, and really had a passion for the sport.

One of his other loves was his grandson, Noah. He really looked forward to all the times he spent with Noah and really enjoyed everything about having him as an only grandchild. Noah called him “Popsi”.

Steve was a career truck driver for most of his adult life and when he retired, he really loved driving busses for the Scarborough school system. He was also a member of the local Elks Lodge here in Saco.

Steve was battling throat cancer for the better part of the last two years and finally passed from complications of that cancer on Oct. 6, 2022. Steve will be missed by all of us dearly.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Philip and Muriel Cantara; and his sister, Cathy Dunkelburger.

Steve is survived by his wife, Jennifer Cantara; brothers Chris and his wife, Sue Cantara, Jeff and wife, Diane Cantara, Craig and wife, Liz Cantara; stepchildren Jessica Burgess and husband, Andrew with their son, Noah; and Phil Diolio and wife, Corinne; along with several nieces and nephews.
