Dorothy H. Milliken

FALMOUTH – A life well lived sums up the journey of Dorothy H. Milliken, who passed away peacefully on Oct. 5, 2022, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born on April 7, 1929, in Portland, a daughter of Hathorne and Margaret (Rice) Hussey. Dorothy attended kindergarten through college on Stevens Avenue in Portland. She married E. Carter Milliken on Oct. 15, 1949.

During her life, she enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, bowling and spending time with her family, especially at camp on Rangeley Lake. In her 80s, she went skydiving with her Navy Seal grandson, Kyle Milliken, white water rafting and her first motorcycle ride. Dot’s favorite hobby was cross-stitching, winning many Blue Ribbons and Best of Show at the Cumberland Fair. She had a wonderful life (her words).

She was predeceased by her husband, Carter; her brother, Kendall Hussey, a sister, Martha Messer; and a grandson, Kyle Milliken.

She is survived by her five children, Meredith Mayberry, Brian Milliken and his wife, Patsy, Joyce Milliken and her husband, Michael Paulin, Jeffrey Milliken and his wife, Susan and Dean Milliken; grandchildren Wesley Milliken, Caleb Milliken, Alex Nickerson, Seth Mayberry, Elizabeth Myatt, Jason Milliken and Carter Milliken.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gosnell Memorial for their loving care of Dot.
