Gicela Davis

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Gicela Davis, 86, of Boulder City, Nev., passed away surrounded by her children after a short illness due to Covid Pneumonia.

Gicela was born on June 12, 1936 in Emerita, Cuba and grew up in Guantanamo, Cuba where she met her late husband, Marine Sergeant Elwood Clark Chapman, who she married on June 10, 1955.

She came to Gorham, Maine in July, 1955; became a United States Citizen in 1966, which was one of her proudest moments. Gicela, also fondly known as “Bella” to many, was a homemaker, baker, knitter, avid reader, and loved all types of music.

In May of 1975 Gicela married her second husband, Howard Davis, who passed away in 2001.

When Gicela gave you a piece of her heart, it was forever and unconditional.

The loves of her life are her children – daughter, Valerie Chapman, and her wife, Joanna, of Boulder City, Nev., daughter, Gloria (Chapman) Coulston and husband, Vance of Boulder City, Nev., son, Clifford Chapman and wife, Pamela of Gray; five grandchildren, Aaron Chapman of Gray, Marleena Barber and husband, Marc of Anaheim, Calif., Alex Coulston of Oahu, Hawaii, Amanda Wolfanger and Alicia Scherlek of Henderson, Nev.; and five great-grandchildren, Kara and Emma Barber, Abigail, Jameson and Jonathan Wolfanger. She also leaves behind her sister, Myda Lara of Guantanamo, Cuba and brother, Geraldo Sanchez of Santiago de Cuba.

Service and Celebration for Gicela’s life will be held on Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Boulder City Municipal Cemetery; reception following at 1314 Dreamcatcher Dr., Boulder City, Nev. A separate Celebration of her life will be held in Maine in 2023, Date to be determined.
