Betty-Jane Simpson 1931 – 2022 WISCASSET – Betty-Jane Simpson, 91, of Wiscasset, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Oct 10, 2022 with her family by her side. She was born in Bangor, the daughter of Marshall and Clarissa (Kelley) Willis. Moving to Bath as a young child, she graduated from Morse High School, class of 1948. After graduation, Betty-Jane started her life-long career at First Federal Savings Bank. She started off as a teller working her way up to Treasurer, retiring in 1994. Remaining on the Board of Directors up to her death. In the fall of 1952, Betty-Jane married her sweetheart, Edward Simpson. Shortly after their marriage, Edward joined the US Coast Guard. Four years later, upon his return, the couple settled in Bath, then moving to Bay Point, Georgetown to raise their family. Betty-Jane, Ed and her son, Scott, opened Simpson’s Oceanfresh Seafood in Wiscasset, where she worked nights and weekends, you could say Betty-Jane loved to keep busy. In her spare time, she loved to knit. She has made numerous mittens and hats for every child in the family. She also loved to dance. She and Ed would be seen ballroom dancing every Saturday night. She will be missed by all those that loved her Betty-Jane was predeceased by her husband, Edward N. Simpson on Dec 8, 2016, a sister, Doreen Alpert; daughter, Doreen E. Bragg and a grandson, Benjamin Bragg. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Gray and her husband Albert of Wiscasset, a son, E. Scott Simpson of Portland; grandchildren, Heather, Rachel, Amy, Melissa, Katy, Kyle, Meredith; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and many beloved friends.
