While serving as York County sheriff, Democrat Bill King has strived to update all aspects of departmental operations, aligning them with current best practices. These changes have provided resources to inmates, designed to facilitate their reentry into the community and reduce recidivism.
The York County Jail is now equipped with a body scanner to intercept contraband. Most cruisers have video systems. Enhancements to vehicles and equipment have improved officer safety. Deputies regularly assist municipal law enforcement officers throughout the county. The York County Sheriff’s Office recently became the first Maine sheriff’s office awarded accreditation through the Maine Law Enforcement Accreditation Program.
Sheriff King’s decades of experience in municipal, federal and county law enforcement are unparalleled in the state of Maine. I urge the citizens of York County to vote for Bill King on Nov. 8 so that we may continue to benefit from the tireless and effective service he has provided during the past eight years.
