
KENNEBUNKPORT – Voters here will decide five local referendum questions when they fill out their absentee ballots or vote in person at the Village Fire Station, 32 North St., Nov. 8.
An amendment to the Kennebunk River ordinance clarifies the definition of commercial fishing vessels.
A change to the administrative code would add RSU 21 directors to a list of those who may be removed from elected office. The code change approval also removes the requirement that the town meeting moderator be a registered voter of Kennebunkport.
Changes in the shellfish ordinance as proposed would require people to apply in person to the town clerk for a license. It would also exempt children 12 and younger from needing a license, but the young digger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who holds a current Kennebunkport recreational shellfish license. Total combined daily limit for adults and children is one peck per license.
A proposed change to the land use ordinance would revise the method for those wishing to rent rooms, called residential rental accommodations. Currently the ability to rent rooms is a conditional use subject to review by the zoning board of appeals; the change would place approvals in the purview of the code enforcement office following a property inspection and complete permit application. All other performance and appeal provisions are unchanged, the sample ballot states.
Lastly, voters will be asked to approve a new Kennebunkport 2030 Comprehensive Plan, which is available for viewing at https://kennebunkportcp.info/. Printed copies are available at Kennebunkport Town Office, 6 Elm St.
