Joseph G. Casper

MOODY – Joseph G. Casper, 86, of Moody, Maine died Oct. 8, 2022, at his home. He was born in Lowell, Mass., on June 15, 1936, the son of Joseph and Ann Casper.

He was predeceased by his mother Ann (Metcavitch) Casper in October 2006.

He is survived by his two brothers Michael P. Casper and his wife Christine, Robert C. Casper and his wife Denise, a sister Ann Marie Casper, nephews: Michael D Casper and his wife Cathy, Scott Casper, Matthew Casper and his wife Melissa, nieces: Colleen Casper, Cynthia Bourque and her husband Gary, Tiffany Bilodeau and many great nephews and nieces.

He attended St. Peter’s Elementary School in Lowell, and was a graduate of Keith Academy. Mr. Casper then attended and graduated from Lowell State College. He also received a Master’s Degree from Fitchburg State College; and also accumulated 30 credits beyond his Master’s Degree.

Following, Mr. Casper first taught in Tyngsboro, Mass., at the Winslow School for two years; then at the Shaughnessy School for eight years; and finally at the James S. Daley Jr. High – Middle School for 27 years.

He was a member and officer in several organizations: namely the Elementary Teachers Club, Treasurer for the Lowell Teachers Organization for several years, and President of the Lowell State College Alumni Association in 1961.

Mr. Casper lived in Lowell until 1984. In that year a home was purchased in Moody, Maine, where he spent weekends and summers until 1994, when he retired, and moved to Maine permanently.

His passion was traveling. In the ’70s and ’80s he took an 80 day tour around the world, he also toured most of Europe, much of Asia and North Africa, several times. Other interests were; interior design, gardening, and crossword puzzles.

After retirement, Mr. Casper worked for two summers in the Ogunquit Playhouse box office, where he also did some bookkeeping. After which he managed and did the front desk at the Midway Motel in Wells.

Visiting hours will be from 12-2 p.m., on Saturday October 15, 2022 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells. His graveside prayer service will take place Monday, October 17, 2022 at 12 p.m., at Saint Mary Cemetery, 90 River, Tewksbury, Mass., 01876.
