I am proud to support Steve Silver for South Portland City Council. Steve has outstanding analytical and communication skills, which he will apply to the many challenges that our city is facing. As an employment attorney, Steve has insight into the needs and challenges of our business community. He is determined to clear the path of undue regulation.
Steve served on the Maine State Board of Property Tax Review and is chair of the Maine Gambling Control Board. As the young father of twins, he is aware of the pressure on families of increasing costs of heating oil and groceries. He will exercise discipline over the city budget, especially as it pertains to property taxes. Steve believes firmly in the need for transparency and responsiveness of the council. With his experience in law and balanced views, he will be a much-needed and welcomed moderating factor on our current council.
Please join me in voting for Steve Silver in November.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
