For the first time in its 42-year history, the Kendal Mountain Festival tour is screening in American cinemas, including the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta. You’ll be treated to eight short adventure documentaries from award-winning filmmakers with a lust for life and a passion for capturing humans doing incredible things in far-flung locations. You’ll see crack climbing, base jumping, skiing and outdoor explorations that will knock your socks off while inspiring you to strap your own boots on and get out there.

If you love the game show Wheel of Fortune, here’s your chance to see a live, theatrical version of it featuring celebrity host and American Idol alum Clay Aiken, not to mention a replica set complete with the iconic wheel. You’ll be able to register for a chance to compete for fabulous prizes like $10,000 cash and trips to Hawaii or Paris. Even if you don’t make it on stage, everyone there will have a chance to be randomly chosen to win cash and prizes. But if you’d like to buy a vowel, be sure to buy a ticket first.

City Theater kicks off its fall season with A.R. Gurney’s “Sylvia.” The play centers on a couple, Greg and Kate, who have relocated to New York City after more than two decades in the suburbs. Life as they know it is upturned upon the arrival of a stray dog named Sylvia. The pooch offers Greg a distraction from his troubles, but for Kate, she’s an attention and affection thief. You’re barking up the right tree if you think this sounds like a wonderful show.

The State Theatre and Print: A Bookstore are welcoming two hugely popular writers to the stage because they’ve just written a book together called “Mad Honey,” and all ticket holders will receive a copy of it. Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan have penned a suspenseful novel that weaves together a love story and the damage that secrets can do.  You’ll hear them read excerpts from the book and discuss the writing of it. Both women are best-selling authors, so no one will be at a loss for words.
