Loon Echo Land Trust’s 2022 Trek for the Trails, presented by Norway Savings Bank, begins Sept. 1 and runs through Sept. 30.
The trek is the land trust’s largest fundraising event and 100% of the $20 registration fee per person helps maintain trails and build new ones.
To participate, register and then visit any LELT trail or preserve throughout the month of September to hike, walk, bike (on trails where biking is permitted) or take in the view. Trail runners can compete for the best time via Strava segment on three trail running routes – one on Pleasant Mountain, Bald Pate and at Raymond Community Forest. Trekkers can also choose to raise money to support their efforts.
All Trek participants will be invited to a celebration Sept. 30 and will be entered into a raffle for prizes from local businesses, including a 2022-2023 season pass to Shawnee Peak Ski Area, gift cards from Bridgton Books and a two-night stay at Pleasant Mountain Camping.
The Trek is free for youth 16 and under. Register at LELT.org/trek or by mailing a check to LELT (memo: Trek) at 8 Depot St., Suite 4 Bridgton, ME 04009.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
