ACTON — York County’s own agricultural fair — the Acton Fair — returns Thursday Aug. 23, and winds down on Sunday afternoon.
Events include a Cruise ‘n Car Show of vintage autos on Thursday, and there is an array of other amusements that day and throughout the weekend, from carnival rides to a horse show on Sunday and the ever popular pig scramble.
As well, there is judging of 4-H oxen and steers, dairy showmanship, steer and ox pulling, a mini tractor pull, the crowning of Miss Acton Fair, a Farmer’s Olympics event and lots of music and fair food.
Acton Fair, in its 157th year, is York County’s only agricultural fair and is dedicated this year to the late Arvid Roberts and the late Lista Staples, both loyal fair supporters and volunteers willing to put their hand to many tasks help make the fair a success.
Acton Fair is on Route 109.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
