A Wells woman died Sunday morning after the vehicle she was driving was struck on Country Club Road, according to the Sanford Police Department.

The preliminary investigation reveals that a Jeep Wrangler operated by Cody Michaud, 32, of Sanford, struck a vehicle head on driven by Ann Sinclair, 32, of Wells, at around 7:30 a.m., according to Lt. Chad Allen of the Sanford Police Department. The crash happened near the intersection with Channel Lane.

Despite life-saving measures, Sinclair died as a result of her injuries, police said.

Michaud was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, Allen said, noting, however, that speed and alcohol are believed to be factors.

In addition to Sanford Police, other emergency agencies rendering aid were the Sanford Fire and Rescue and Wells Emergency Services.
