Spirit Walk rescheduled
The Buxton-Hollis Historical Society has postponed its Spirit Walk in the South Buxton Cemetery to sometime in the fall.

The walk was originally planned for the town’s 250th birthday celebration, but organizers decided to reschedule the walk because of the large number of other events Aug. 5-7 during the town celebration.
The cemetery contains graves of many of the town’s historical figures, such as the Rev. Paul Coffin, who was the pastor of Tory Hill Congregational Church for six decades. Coffin died in 1821.
The society is making available the historical documentary “Buxton, Maine An American Story,” produced by Saco River Community TV, at a cost of $25. To order a DVD, call 929-1684 or email bhhs@buxtonhollishistorical.org.
School start draws near
The first day of school for kindergarten and grades 6 and 9 will be Aug. 31, and all students return to the Bonny Eagle’s eight schools Sept. 1.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
