Your bold headline declares the Inflation Reduction Act “a Biden triumph” (Aug. 13, Page A3) when the legislation is actually a triumph for political payoffs.
The only way the bill passed was by paying off Sen. Joe Manchin with a pipeline for one of his biggest contributors and paying off Sen. Kyrsten Sinema by removing an unfavorable tax for some of her richest contributors. Nobody can even say if it will actually reduce inflation or by how much.
Doesn’t sound like much of a triumph to me. It’s more like business as usual in Washington, D.C.
