Lakes Region Recovery Center moving downtown
Lakes Region Recovery Center has outgrown its current location on the campus of Bridgton Hospital and will move this autumn to a new site at 2 Elm St., across the road from the Bridgton Post Office. Being located in the heart of downtown will make the center more easily accessible for more people. The center boasts a wide range of offerings, including arts and crafts classes, journaling, detox acupuncture, support groups, games nights, and AA and Narcotics Anonymous meetings. For further information, call 803-8707, go to lrrcbridgton.org, or find it on Facebook.
Dog days of Bridgton
Dogs and their people are welcome to participate in the Dog Days of Bridgton, an annual celebration of all things canine, taking place from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Community Center on Depot Street. The event features vendors, dog rescues, games, raffles and lots of other fun things. All dogs must be kept on a leash. The day is hosted by Tasteful Things and proceeds from the event will benefit Harvest Hills Animal Shelter and other area animal rescue organizations.
Cruise nights
Fans of vintage automobiles are invited to join, or just view, the many kinds of restored cars on show in the parking lot at the corner of Depot and Main streets (across from Bridgton House of Pizza) from 5-7:30 p.m. during Wednesday Cruise Nights. The event is run by members of the Maine Obsolete Automobile League. Owners of all types of antique and vintage autos will be displaying their wheels and they love to talk about their cars with anyone who is interested. MOAL raises money for scholarships and community activities and they are always looking for new members. To learn more, stop by and chat with some members.
