Louisa (Libby) Schmidt

CANTON – Louisa (Libby) Schmidt, 81, died due to health complications on August 1, 2022, at Pinnacle Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Canton.

She was born July 8, 1941, in Standish, the daughter of Earl Libby and Elise (Beaulieu) Libby. Louisa graduated from Bonny Eagle High School, class of 1964. Louisa worked for Fair Child for 20 years and really loved what she did.

Louisa was a very spirited and lively person; she enjoyed going to the Beach Ridge Speedway and going to her favorite sub place, Amato’s. She was a big fan of singer, Elvis Presley, and one of her hobbies was collecting Elvis memorabilia. Louisa married her very loving husband, Dan Schmidt on July 7, 1984.

In addition to her parents Earl and Elise Libby, she was predeceased by her husband, Dan Schmidt; her brother-in-law, Larry Giggey; and her great-granddaughter, Avery Libby.

She is survived by her son, Michael Libby and wife Toni of Sebago, and their children (grandchildren) Amanda Lopez-Libby and her daughter (great-granddaughter) Courtney of Sebago, Sherry (Libby) and husband Dennis Robinson of La Vergne, Tenn. and Nicholette Libby and Mike Bendel of Nausha, N.H.; her daughter, Amy Libby and husband Ray Dube of Rumford, and children (grandchildren) Kristy and Jeff singer of Rumford, and Tommy Riley of Rumford. Louisa is also survived by her loving siblings Melvin Libby of Windham, Paul and wife Nancy of Limington, and her sister Gloria (Libby) Giggey of Standish; and her several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a memorial service held to celebrate her life on Saturday August 13, at the Harding Cemetery at 10 a.m.
