Thank you, wonderful community
To the editor,
Thank you very much for your support of our Help the People of Ukraine concert held April 10 at South Congregational Church UCC, in Kennebunkport. Because of your generosity, over $4,000 was raised to help the Ukrainian community on the other side of the world.
Guest speaker Yamina Nickless gave a moving talk comparing her life in Ukraine from childhood into adulthood to the experiences that Ukrainian children and their parents are now facing. In addition to the Seatones, musical guests were Jean Strazdes (artistic director of Seaglass) and Kim Karchenes (pianist), performing both separately and together.
According to board members of the Sunflower for Peace Foundation, “Music brings color even into the darkest place and with the help of Seaglass Performing Arts and other donors like them, we can bring life-saving aid, and hope, to the very frontlines in Ukraine. Thank you very much for your support of Sunflower for Peace.”

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
