Rock band Guster (“Satellite,” “Amsterdam,” “Barrel of a Gun” ) is thrilled about the return of its music festival, Guster on the Ocean. After a couple of years on hiatus, it’s got a stacked lineup, with Americana duo Shovels & Rope, singer-songwriter Amythyst Kiah, indie-folk act Darlingside and Maine singer-songwriter Pete Kilpatrick. The Friday night show with Josh Ritter at the State Theatre is sold out, as is Sunday’s Camp Guster event, but you can still grab tickets to Saturday’s big show, which kicks off in the afternoon.
I Love the 90’s

Whether you lived through them or are in the mood for a serious taste of the ’90s, this is the show you’ve been waiting for. I Love the 90’s features an all-star cast of performers. Everybody dance now to the music of Vanilla Ice, Kid ‘n Play, Sugar Hill Gang, Color Me Badd, Young MC and C + C Music Factory featuring Freedom Williams. Ice ice baby, indeed! Find out if Color Me Badd still wants to sex you up and if Young MC can cure your lonely condition.
Maine Music Festival

The inaugural Maine Music Festival happens Saturday on the gorgeous grounds of Vinegar Hill Music Theatre. You’ll hear performances by Coyote Island, Palomino Hotel, Muddy Ruckus and Jason Spooner Band. Dan Blakeslee will sling the tunes between sets and you can nosh on snacks including charcuterie cups. Lobster rolls are available to pre-order and several local artisans will be on site with their creations. Chairs or blankets encouraged.
Mary Chapin Carpenter

Singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter’s long career has brought forth five Grammy Awards and 16 nominations. She’s also an inductee into the esteemed Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. With a 16-album discography, she’ll have plenty to choose from when she takes the stage in Portland. You’ll feel as lucky as Chapin Carpenter if you catch this show. Erin Rae opens.
