Theresa L. Charron

YARMOUTH – Theresa L. Charron, 96, of Yarmouth and Sebring, Fla., passed away July 26, 2022 at home with her daughters by her side. She was born in Lewiston on March 25, 1926, the daughter of Horace and Emma (Bouley) Langlois.

Theresa spent her early years working at the old cotton mill on Bridge Street, making grain bags for the military, later named Sparhawk mills where she made braided rugs. She enjoyed talking about those years as well as her years at the American Can Company. In 1942 she met Romeo Charron and waited four years for his military service to end, marrying him on May 30, 1946, in Yarmouth where they raised their three children

She and her husband owned and operated Charron’s Apartments for 67 years. One of her dreams was to own a variety store and in the late 1960s they purchased and aptly named it “Romie’s Variety”.

It was not Christmas without her annual Christmas Eve party for family and friends. Theresa loved every holiday but her “favorite holiday” was the Yarmouth Clam Festival, which she took part in until the pandemic. She loved driving in her red convertible at the beginning of the parade with the American Legion and Auxiliary members. Theresa was a 40-plus year member. She also enjoyed being a member of the Cumberland County extension homemakers for the past 12 years. Theresa and her husband spent every winter in various parts of Florida including Okeechobee and Sebring, Fla.

Theresa was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Romeo; her son, Tommie; and sister, Vivian Allen.

Theresa is survived by her three siblings, sisters Val Britt of Porter, Janice Walsh of South Portland and brother Roland Morin of Bowdoinham; her daughters Ann (Glenwood) Stowell and Linda (John) Ouillette of Yarmouth; grandchildren Lisa (Paul) Jansky of Wilton, Jaclyn (David) Sanipass, of Yarmouth, Leah (Nicholas) Webber of Durham, Jason Stowell of Yarmouth and Shelby Stowell of Jacksonville, Fla.; great-grandchildren Alyssa, Jonathan, Kiley, Brady, Onyx, Kaitlyn, Jessica, and Zachray; many, many, wonderful nieces and nephews who were incredibly dear to her; special friends Jan Reynolds and Craig Martin.
