Judith Ellen Mason
PORTLAND – Judith Ellen Mason, 80, of Porter, died Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Portland on August 8, 1941, the daughter of Harry Gilbert Hanson, Jr. and Yvonne June (Griffin) Hanson. She grew up in Portland and Thomaston and attended Portland High School. Judi earned a certificate from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Nursing. She worked as a CNA on the cardiac unit at Maine Medical Center before moving to Massachusetts. There, she worked as a Chiropractic Assistant for nine years. Her patients included many members of the New England Patriots and Boston Celtics teams. She returned to Maine in 1988 and continued her career in chiropractic medicine and home health care until she retired.
Judi was passionate about her hobby of knitting and purposed to help others whenever she had opportunity. She was a foster parent for many years and blessed our family with three more incredible siblings whom she officially adopted.
Judith was predeceased by her husband, George Mason. She is survived by her children, David Newcomb, Daniel Newcomb, Lisa Asselin, Dawn Annesi, Amy-June Remy, Dorine Smith-Mason, Anya Joy Mason, Everett Smith-Mason, Sean Mason, and great-granddaughter whom she raised, Elizabeth Rocco; sisters, Kathleen Hansen and Patricia Smith; as well as numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at Calvary Bible Church, 348 South Hiram Road on Sunday, August 7 at 2 p.m., to honor her life.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland.
