Secret Gardens tour a ‘rousing success’
To the editor,
On behalf of the board of Kennebunkport’s Graves Memorial Library, thanks are due to everyone who helped make the Secret Gardens of Kennebunkport tour a rousing success on Saturday, July 16.
More than 400 attendees, six gracious and talented gardeners, dozens of willing volunteers, coordination with the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust annual plant sale, and the forbearance of neighbors surrounding the tour stops all contributed to an event benefitting the ongoing operations of the town’s public library.
Special thanks go to the tour’s premier sponsor, Kennebunk Savings; in-kind sponsor the Intown Trolley; Kennebunkport Parks and Recreation for the use of its bus; as well as numerous other local business sponsors who provided their support.
Public libraries are increasingly becoming cultural institution hubs that provide residents with an ever-widening array of services that help bring people together. Saturday’s event certainly confirmed that the spirit of community goodwill continues to bloom in our town.
