A Princeton man died early Saturday after the pickup truck he was driving crashed into a tree in the Washington County town, Maine State Police said.
Peter Leighton, 59, was traveling in the southbound lane on Main Street when his Ford F-150 crossed the centerline, went off the road and crashed into a tree, state police spokesperson Shannon Moss said. It is believed that Leighton experienced a medical event.
The single-vehicle crash happened about 5:40 a.m.
State police are investigating the accident.
Assisting police at the scene were the Indian Township Police Department, Indian Township Fire/Rescue, Princeton Fire Department, Baileyville Fire Department and Bohannon’s Towing.
