I agree 100 percent with Eileen Purdy’s letter about the irresponsibility of walkers and runners moving with their backs to traffic, often in dark clothing. What seemed like a basic thing we were taught as children obviously didn’t get through to a lot of folks.

My friend Wendy credits AAA for her lifetime lesson: “Single file, that’s the style, facing traffic all the while.” This should always be a part of pedestrian safety articles and discussions.
