Calling all artists for mural design contest

The Community Economic Development Committee is awarding up to three winning entries by artists who would like to create new works of public art to go on display in the Village Center.

Awards will be given for a 3-by-4-foot mural and two larger murals. Suggested outdoor themes for original sketches and/or designs include Libby Hill Forest Trails; seasonal images of Gray, such as ice fishing or the Blueberry Festival; or the local birdhouse project.

The designs will be painted this summer by the winning artists, with technical assistance by the CEDC and/or other interested community members. The CEDC will provide paint supplies and a choice of colors.

More than one entry may be submitted, but all become the property of the CEDC. Winning designs will receive a $100 cash prize. The contest is open to all ages and the deadline to enter is May 15.

Send electronic images to cedc@graymaine.org and include name, phone number, address, parent/guardian contact information if applicable. Students should also include grade level, whether it’s elementary, middle school, high school or college.
