A quick-moving fire Saturday afternoon destroyed a house on Tuttle Road in Cumberland.
Fire Chief Daniel Small told NewsCenter Maine that a neighbor saw flames coming from the attached garage and alerted one person inside the house who was able to get out safely.
The fire spread quickly from the garage to the house and firefighters from several surrounding communities spent most of Saturday afternoon dousing the blaze. Part of Tuttle Road was closed to allow fire crews to work.
It wasn’t immediately clear how the fire started, but the State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called to help investigate.
