
Don’t be a square – Stella’s is the place for live music
Stella’s on the Square, located at 6 North High St. (the former Tom’s Homestead restaurant), will be hosting a number of live acoustic music events starting with Denmark’s own Bruce Marshall from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26. The acoustic Duo of Vanessa Jones & Cole Downing will play from 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5, and The Cobblestones will perform from 7-9 p.m. March 11. There is no cover charge and the bar will be open.
Stella’s is also offering space for artists to hang their work. Local artist Lauren Vincent currently has her vibrant abstract paintings decorating the walls. For more information about the music and artwork, email stellasbridgton@gmail.com or call 803-8402.
Free COVID testing
Free PCR rapid tests for COVID-19 will be offered at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot St. (behind Renys), from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26. The tests, which are available to everyone, will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. People who are ill are asked not to attend. This event is hosted by the Community Center in conjunction with Rotarian and Health Officer Cathy Pinkham and CrossRoads in Saco.
Get jumpin’ with the Janes
Spring is on the way, and often at this time of year thoughts turn to shedding some winter weight and getting in shape. The Jumpin’ Janes Senior Fitness group meets at the Bridgton Town Hall on North High Street from 9-10 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. There is no charge to participate and all are welcome, so why not stop in and start getting ready for the warmer weather to come?
New vendors sought for farmers market
The Bridgton Farmers Market is accepting applications for new vendors until March 15. Local growers, bakers and artisans interested in participating should contact bridgtonfarmersmarket.me@gmail.com or facebook.com/BridgtonFarmersMarket for more information and to obtain an application form.
Art scholarships
The Gallery 302 Art Guild Bridgton will be offering its annual $1,000 scholarships to two graduating high school seniors pursuing college degrees in the visual arts. Students at Lake Region High School, Fryeburg Academy, Windham High School, Bonny Eagle High School, Oxford Hill Comprehensive High School or Poland Regional High School are eligible to apply, as are homeschooled students who live in the areas served by these schools.
